River Grove Therapy is a small psychotherapy practice located in Alexandria, VA. We offer high-quality therapy services to individuals of all ages, with a focus on playful & expressive therapies, trauma-informed care across the lifespan, embracing diversity and understanding neurodivergent strengths. Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role as a Therapist at River Grove Therapy. The Therapist will be responsible for conducting therapy sessions with clients, including families and children, providing mental health support to individuals and families, and engaging in parent sessions as clinically indicated. The therapist will employ therapeutic techniques and apply trauma-informed care principles to assist clients in processing trauma, losses, and life transitions.

 

Qualifications

  • Experience and skill in using Play Therapy techniques (training can also provided)

  • Knowledge of Social Work principles and practices

  • Ability to work effectively with children, youth, and families

  • Strong understanding of mental health and psychological concepts

  • Experience in case management and treatment planning

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Empathy, compassion, and a non-judgmental attitude

  • Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, or a related field

  • Licensure or certification as a therapist is preferred

  • Curiosity and eagerness for continued growth and learning
