River Grove Therapy is a therapeutic practice located in Alexandria, VA. We offer high-quality therapy services to individuals of all ages, with a focus on play therapy, trauma-informed care across the lifespan, and understanding neurodivergent strengths. Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role as a Child and Family Therapist at River Grove Therapy. The Child and Family Therapist will be responsible for conducting therapy sessions with children, providing mental health support to individuals and families, and engaging in parent sessions as clinically indicated. The therapist will employ play therapy techniques and apply trauma-informed care principles to assist clients in processing trauma, losses, and life transitions.

 

Qualifications

• Experience and skill in using Play Therapy techniques (training also provided)

• Knowledge of Social Work principles and practices

• Ability to work effectively with children and youth

• Strong understanding of mental health and psychological concepts

• Experience in case management and treatment planning

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Empathy, compassion, and a non-judgmental attitude

• Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, or a related field

• Licensure or certification as a therapist is preferred
