I care deeply about walking with children, teens, families, and adults when life feels overwhelming or confusing. We all need a place where we can show up as we are, without pressure to have it all figured out, and sort through the experiences and emotions we carry. Whether I’m on the floor in play therapy, talking with a teen who’s holding more than they say out loud, or sitting with an adult trying to understand their own story, my hope is for people feel less alone, more understood, and more connected to what matters.

About Abigail
I support clients of all ages navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, loss, identity questions, relationship challenges, and the transitions that shape us. My years in child advocacy, child welfare, and survivor-support work taught me—again and again—how much strength people hold, even in painful seasons, and how healing begins when someone is met with compassion and has space to rediscover their own resilience.
Whether you’re seeking support for yourself or your child, exploring therapy is a meaningful and brave step. It can be a moment to slow down, feel the weight ease a bit, and begin to move through what’s been happening with someone alongside you.
My path into this work is grounded in the belief that healing grows through connection—through being truly seen, valued, and met with compassion at any age. We all carry stories and emotions that often stay tucked beneath the surface, and it takes courage to bring them forward. I’m continually inspired by the people I work with at every age and stage of life, and I’m grateful to witness what becomes possible when they feel understood, supported, and worthy of care.
I received master’s degrees in Social Work and Public Administration from Texas Tech University and spent the early part of my career supporting survivors of sexual violence and abuse and later working within child welfare and child advocacy. Being with people in some of the most stressful and vulnerable moments of their lives continues to shape how I practice today, with steadiness, compassion, and a deep respect for each person’s story and capacity to heal.
My therapeutic approach is trauma-informed, relational, and collaborative, taking time to understand each person’s unique needs and goals and letting that guide the path we take together. I use a blend of evidence-based approaches to ensure the work feels supportive and responsive to whoever is in the room. I’m committed to LGBTQ+ affirming and neurodivergent-affirming care and to creating a warm welcoming environment where people can show up just as they are.
With children and adolescents, I use play therapy, expressive arts, child-centered approaches, and attachment-based work to support emotional expression, regulation, and connection. I trust play as a child’s natural language and a powerful pathway to healing, and I am certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), which helps guide my work with children and teens healing from trauma.
With older teens, adults and couples, the work often centers on making meaning of their experiences, understanding themselves more fully, strengthening relationships, and finding steadiness during life’s changes. My hope is that therapy offers room to reflect, grow, and move forward with a little more clarity and confidence.
I often say that I have the best job in the world. I get to be with people in meaningful moments, hear the stories that shaped them, and hold genuine respect for who they are and who they are becoming. There is something powerful about watching someone begin to see themselves with more gentleness and possibility. At River Grove Therapy, I am grateful to be part of a community that values connection, inclusivity, and presence in the same way I do. If you are looking for support for yourself or your family, it would be an honor to walk alongside you.
