MSW
Therapist, Supervisee in Social Work
I have experience working across the lifespan and in a variety of settings, including preschools, kindergarten classrooms, assisting teens and families, and in individualized counseling environments with adults. I am LGBTQ+ welcoming and offer a neutral and accepting space where clients can feel safe being honest and vulnerable. I use an integrative approach and a trauma-informed lens when developing therapeutic treatment plans. I have special interest and training in Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT), perinatal and postpartum wellness, as well as anxiety, depression, grief, and trauma.
About Heather
I offer a calm and non-judgmental space to all of my clients, and am committed to meeting my clients where they are in their therapeutic journey. I believe that a trusting relationship is the foundation for all of our work together. I see clients across the lifespan, with a special interest in helping children, teens, and adults who have experienced trauma or who struggle with anxiety, depression, and grief. I also practice across a variety of therapeutic modalities, depending on the client's age, personality, and individual needs. With children, I primarily use a non-directive, child-centered play therapy (CCPT) approach, believing whole-heartedly that every child has within themselves everything they need to achieve balance and joy - my role is to help them discover that.
I am the mother of 4 children, each with unique gifts and challenges. With over 20 years of childbirth and parenting experience in my toolbox, I have a passion for perinatal and postpartum mental health. Juggling the role of mom, with other responsibilities like spouse, daughter, sibling, friend, or wage-earner, often leaves little time for us to reflect on our own needs or express our own feelings, yet finding a way and a place to do that is so important.
Also, as an outdoor enthusiast, I believe in the healing power of nature. I love to find ways to bring the outdoors into my practice whenever possible.
