Community Engagement

At River Grove Therapy, we believe mental health care extends far beyond our therapy office walls. Community engagement is at the heart of who we are because we are deeply invested in the people and places we know, love, live, and work in. We are passionate about creating meaningful connections, sharing accessible mental health education, and helping reduce the stigma that too often prevents individuals from seeking support.

Through workshops, partnerships, outreach events, and community collaboration, we strive to foster conversations that promote understanding, compassion, and emotional wellness for all. Our goal is to meet people where they are — providing knowledge, support, and resources that empower individuals, strengthen relationships, and build a healthier community together.

We are truly honored to be part of this community and committed to helping it thrive. If you'd like us to join you for a community event, reach out and let us know! We'd love to be a support.

& Happy Hour

Join us on June 12 for a Karma Yoga practice (all levels welcome!) and/or a Happy Hour following the practice.

All proceeds will benefit the Friends of Dorothy Cafe, a family-friendly queer cafe in Alexandria. Currently, Friends of Dorothy is fundraising to establish a space where everyone can feel welcome.

From Friends of Dorothy Café, "we believe in the power of community and art. As a queer-owned, family-friendly café, our mission is to create an
inclusive and safe environment for LGBTQ folks and allies to eat, drink and connect. Our space is dedicated to amplifying queer and trans makers,
artists, and vendors, and serves as a community hub for celebration and art. Together we are building a truer, more beautiful Alexandria."

Lady Parts

So excited to serve on a second panel tomorrow night after a showing of Lady Parts- an amazing film sharing the story of a woman with vaginismus.

Please join me at Patagonia Old Town on Sunday, May 17 @ 6pm. The film is amazing, Bonnie Gross (Producer/Writer) is even more amazing, and I'm so grateful that she's been sharing her personal, real life story. It makes a difference.

Join us.

I’d love to take this opportunity to invite you to a special screening of Lady Parts, a dramedy inspired by writer and executive producer Bonnie Gross’s true story, followed by a panel discussion on sexual health and pelvic pain.

As a therapist who has worked with clients experiencing vaginismus and vulvar pain, I reached out to the film's writer and producer and invited her and the Lady Parts team to come to DC & VA! I feel incredibly lucky to have the Lady Parts team come to us!

This unique event brings together storytelling and clinical insight, exploring the emotional and medical realities of vulvar pain, patient advocacy, and communication around sexual health.

We’re hosting screenings in both Washington, DC and Alexandria, Virginia, each followed by a panel featuring healthcare professionals and advocates. It’s a valuable opportunity to engage with colleagues, deepen understanding of an often-overlooked condition, and be part of an important conversation impacting many patients.

We would be honored to have you join us.
